What URL Should Your Chiropractic Website Have
Last Updated: May 31, 2019
For years chiropractors and other businesses have been buying up all the exact match domains or URLs for their chiropractic website to give themselves an advantage in the search results. As an example if you lived in the city of Madison, WI, you would want to buy “chiropractormadision” or “chiropractormadisonwi” or “chiropracticmadison”. One of Google’s most recent updates is changing this strategy, bringing an end to an industry. According to Google this update targets low quality exact-match domains. So what do they define as low quality?
- The website has very few pages.
- The website has a lot of duplicate content or very little original content.
- The content posts don’t have a strong history of being socially shared.
- The website doesn’t have consistent fresh content being added regularly.
- The website doesn’t have a privacy policy.
- The websites’ author does not have a strong author rank.
- The website is built on low quality links.
So is Your Website in Trouble?
If you have an exact match domain you will be fine as long as you don’t fall in to the low quality category. If you have a website with unique content, that has a strong author rank, and high quality links pointing to it you’ll be fine. Today more than ever it’s important to build your web presence on a steady basis. You need to be posting YouTube videos, writing blog posts, and interacting socially on a daily or weekly basis. If you stay consistent with even those simple tips you’ll find your self far ahead of the competition. This is something that you have to commit yourself to or you need to find someone you can trust to do the work for you.
The days of using automated programs or cheap tricks to fool Google are all but over. Today you have to be willing to do some work, but the rewards are greater than ever. Don’t be fooled by anyone telling you they can build hundreds of backlinks to your website every month. It’s just not safe. There are a few types of backlinks that Google specifically warns against today that you should be aware of:
- Web 2.0 Profiles
- Blog Network Posts
- Forum Profiles
- Low Quality Article Directories
- Social Bookmarks
- Low Quality Directories
